About the hospital
The Carilion Children’s Hospital is the NRV’s only children’s hospital. Their skilled staff of more than 350 medical professionals is specially trained in caring for infants & children and delivers top-notch care to every child and family.
Their full-service 92-bed “hospital within a hospital” at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital includes a regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 60 newborns, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and an inpatient unit designed specifically for children. Carilion Children’s Hospital is supported by Level 1 trauma care, advanced medical transport units and an emergency department devoted to acutely ill or injured children. Our goal
We plan to make a financial contribution towards the Carilion Children's Hospital, specifically the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In these units, newborn children who have developed severe complications are treated. Equipment expenses are extremely high and we hope to offset some of these costs. We plan to host a cornhole tournament on Virginia Tech’s campus named “Cornhole for Carilion.” We encourage all students and community members to participate and help support children in the NRV.
In addition to raising funds, as Virginia Tech students, we want to foster better relationships with the children. After the tournament, we plan to visit the hospital and make a positive impact on some of the children. More information is available on our Facebook event page
